As the university prepares to celebrate its 70th anniversary, distinguished alumnus, renowned scientist, and academician of both the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Song Jian, generously donated RMB 1 million to his alma mater and sent a handwritten congratulatory letter expressing his heartfelt blessings and deep affection for the university.
On May 15, University President Li Yuxia and Vice President Chen Jing traveled to Beijing to visit Academician Song Jian and convey the university’s sincere gratitude and highest respect on behalf of all faculty members and students.
During the meeting, Li Yuxia briefed Song Jian on the university’s latest achievements and developments, and expressed profound appreciation for his long-standing support, generosity, and dedication to education and the university’s growth.
Song Jian highly praised the university’s recent accomplishments. He fondly recalled his years of study in Zibo and expressed deep gratitude to his alma mater for its nurturing education. He also extended warm congratulations on the university’s 70th anniversary. In addition, he inquired in detail about the university’s enrollment scale, reform initiatives, and future development plans.
Song Jian noted that the strategic deployment outlined in China’s upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan regarding the “improvement and expansion of higher education” presents an important opportunity for the university’s future development. He encouraged the university to remain committed to its founding mission, strive for academic excellence, and continue cultivating talented individuals with both integrity and ability for the nation’s modernization and rejuvenation. He also wished the university even greater success in the future.
During the visit, Song Jian donated several of his important academic works to the university, including Engineering Cybernetics and Selected Scientific Papers of Song Jian.
Li Yuxia presented Song Jian with a donation certificate and gifted him a calligraphy work titled “Great Scholars with Noble Virtue, Distinguished Achievements Benefiting the University,” created by university faculty members, along with academic publications on Qi Culture studies.
Zhang Botao, President of the university’s Beijing Young Alumni Association, also attended the event.
Born in December 1931 in Rongcheng, Shandong Province, Song Jian is a renowned expert in cybernetics, systems engineering, and aerospace technology. He is an academician of both the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, as well as a foreign member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering. From 1986 to 1993, he served as State Councilor and Director of the State Science and Technology Commission of China. From 1998 to 2003, he served as Vice Chairman of the 9th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), and from 1998 to 2002, he served as President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. In 2014, asteroid No. 210210 was officially named “Song Jian Star” in his honor.

5月15日，校长 李玉霞、党委常委、副校长 陈靖 专程赴京拜望宋健院士，代表全校师生致以诚挚感谢和崇高敬意。
李玉霞向宋健院士全面汇报了学校近年来事业发展取得的新成就，并高度赞扬其长期以来心系母校、捐资助学的高尚情怀。
宋健院士对学校近年来的发展成果给予充分肯定。他深情回忆在淄博求学的青春岁月，感谢母校的培养，并向学校70周年华诞致以热烈祝贺。他详细询问了学校办学规模、改革发展等情况，并指出，国家“十五五”规划中关于“推动高等教育提质扩容”的战略部署，为学校未来发展提供了重要机遇。希望学校坚守育人初心、勇攀学术高峰，为强国建设和民族复兴持续培养德才兼备的优秀人才，并祝愿学校事业蒸蒸日上、再创辉煌。
期间，宋健院士还向学校赠送了其重要学术著作，包括 工程控制论、宋健科学论文选集 等。
拜望过程中，李玉霞代表学校向宋健院士颁授捐赠证书，并敬赠由学校教师创作的书法作品《鸿儒厚德 勋业润校》及齐文化研究专著。

宋健，1931年12月出生于山东荣成，是我国著名控制论、系统工程与航空航天技术专家，中国科学院院士、中国工程院院士、美国国家工程院外籍院士。曾任国务委员兼国家科委主任、中国工程院院长、第九届全国政协副主席等重要职务。2014年，国际永久编号210210号小行星被正式命名为“宋健星”。
